Pumpkin Seed Art

If you are like us then you may enjoy cooking up those tasty pumpkin seeds after carving out your spooky (or funny) jack o’ lantern. This time, set a good handful aside to make some fun crafts later!

All you need to do is dry out the seeds like normal on a paper towel, but instead of popping them in the oven, section them off and add some food coloring or washable paint to each pile. I personally love this washable paint:

Once that dries, let your preschooler enjoy gluing them onto paper to make artwork worthy of hanging on the fridge!

Tip: To get the paint even, try putting the seeds into zip lock bags with the paint and shaking them. Once covered, lay them out on wax paper separated to avoid sticking.

An Autumn Q-Tip Tree

The name sounds strange, but hear me out!

Set up some fall paint colors in your no spill painting cups, and give your preschooler a piece of paper with a tree outline already drawn out. If your child is closer to 4 or 5 years old, they may even be able to trace the tree themselves.

Then all they need to do is use either a Q-tip or small paintbrushes to make dots all over where the leaves should go. As a result, they will have made a totally custom autumn tree picture.

Marble Leaves

Sure, your kids might love jumping in those leaf piles outside, but they may also enjoy crafting their very own ones!

For this project, all you need is some non-toxic shaving cream, a large bowl, stir stick, leaf templates, and some food coloring. Oh, and some safety scissors – you may want to supervise this one, depending on your child’s age!

Let your child drip the fall colors into the emptied shaving cream and have them use a stir stick to make the pattern they desire.

When done, place a sheet of paper on top of the design, let it soak for a moment, and then carefully pull it back up.

With another towel, scrape off the leftover shaving cream, and let the paper dry.

Once dried, use the leaf templates to cut them out into beautiful leaves to either string to hang up or perhaps make a fall wreath out of them to hang on your door.

Thanksgiving Puppets

Do you want to keep your kids entertained long after the craft is done? Then this one is surely going to help you with that mission. We’re going back to old-school paper bags!

Take them to a whole new level by decking them out to look like a playful Thanksgiving turkey. Pick up some colorful feathers, googly eyes, construction paper (to make the beak), and let your preschooler(s) design their own.

You can even take it a step further! Have them say what they are thankful for abd help them write it down on the front of the bag. When they are done customizing, they can open the bag’s bottom and use it as a homemade puppet to have fun with.
